Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Design Review & Approval (95% of the role)
• Reviewing construction packages from external contracting firms.
• Providing feedback, identifying mistakes, and ensuring designs meet company standards before they move to the Director for final "stamping."
• Internal Design (5% of the role):
• Handling special projects that have not yet been identified.
• Project Management: Managing approximately 2 large projects concurrently (totaling 10 projects for the 5-person team).
• Liaison Work: Serving as the POC for design firms and ensuring a smooth handoff to construction.

Must haves:

• Utility Experience: 1–2 years minimum in the industry to mitigate the learning curve.
• OH/UG Knowledge: Experience in both overhead and underground utility design is a "must."
• Software: DDS (Distribution Design Studio)
• CAD Tools: Proficiency in MicroStation (preferred) or AutoCAD.
• Analysis: Ability to perform structural analysis for pole loading and cable pull analysis.
• Documentation: Experience developing construction packages (costs, materials, sketches, ROW, and permitting).

Nice to Haves:

• CNP Knowledge: Previous CenterPoint Energy experience or familiarity with their standards is highly preferred ("speaking the utility language").

Pay Range: $45 to $50 per hour
