Title:Environmental Field Technician
- About the Role
The Environmental Field Technician will support the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). This role is highly field-based and involves traveling to landfill sites to collect environmental data, troubleshoot system issues, and perform routine and non-routine maintenance on landfill gas infrastructure.
Technicians will monitor landfill gas and liquids systems, maintain extraction equipment, and document field activity to ensure regulatory compliance. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working outdoors, and the ability to troubleshoot environmental monitoring systems.
Key Job Responsibilities
Monitor landfill gas (LFG) and liquids within gas collection and control systems (GCCS).
Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on GCCS components to ensure proper system operation and regulatory compliance.
Maintain and monitor landfill liquid conveyance and extraction systems.
Perform maintenance on pneumatic pumps, airlines, and force mains.
Troubleshoot GCCS infrastructure and liquids extraction issues.
Collect and document environmental monitoring data in field logs using company-provided applications and reporting systems.
Travel daily to landfill sites, which may vary depending on operational needs.
Assist with field repairs, maintenance, and construction activities related to landfill gas systems.
Ensure environmental data is properly collected and documented to meet regulatory objectives and deadlines.
Maintain company tools and monitoring equipment to ensure proper condition and functionality.
Assist with environmental sampling and monitoring activities including gas, soil, and air monitoring.
Required Skills
High School Diploma required.
Minimum of 1 year of general work experience (environmental field work preferred).
Ability to travel to job sites daily and occasionally travel longer distances or out of state if needed.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to respond to system call-outs 24/7, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
Comfort working outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions.
Ability to walk long distances across landfill terrain, including steep slopes.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs on a non-consistent basis
Ability to pass a company baseline health physical and drug screening.
Basic proficiency in Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
