Description:
This role supports biologics drug discovery by managing protein and plasmid samples, coordinating material distribution, and maintaining accurate sample inventories. The position plays a critical role in ensuring research teams receive materials on time while maintaining proper documentation and sample tracking. The individual will contribute to biologics characterization and data management while collaborating with cross-functional research teams. Strong organizational skills and familiarity with biologics workflows are essential to support discovery and engineering activities.
Must Haves:
- BS or MS in Biology or related scientific field
- Experience with protein or biologics sample handling
- Knowledge of sample inventory management systems (e.g., FreezerPro or similar)
- Experience with analytical techniques for protein characterization such as SEC, MS, or DSF
- Experience with report generation and electronic laboratory notebooks
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Day to Day:
- Receive and inventory protein and plasmid samples produced internally or through external partners.
- Maintain and update the sample inventory database to ensure accurate sample tracking.
- Coordinate sample distribution, aliquoting, and handoffs to cross-functional research teams.
- Ensure proper sample storage and handling following established best practices.
- Perform biologics characterization assays including SEC, DSF, endotoxin measurement, and mass spectrometry as needed.
- Generate reports and maintain documentation within electronic notebook systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to support data transfer and sample coordination.
- Provide feedback to internal teams supporting data systems and research tools.
Plusses:
- Hands-on experience with SEC, Mass Spectrometry, endotoxin testing, or DSF
- Experience working with automation platforms (e.g., Tecan, Hamilton)
- Experience coordinating work with contract research organizations (CROs)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience supporting biologics or antibody discovery programs.
