Duration: 2-Year Contract (No FTE Conversion)
Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite - Mon–Thurs)
Work Hours: ~30 hours/week (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM PST)
 
Pay Rate: $50 - 60/hr

Job Overview
Sempra is seeking an experienced Auditor III to support its Audit Services team. This role focuses on executing internal audits across financial, operational, and compliance areas, with an emphasis on risk assessment, controls evaluation, and business process improvement. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative team environment
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute internal audits from start to finish

  • Perform risk assessments and identify key controls

  • Conduct audit testing and evaluate effectiveness of controls

  • Document audit findings, results, and recommendations

  • Assess business processes and recommend operational improvements

  • Support audits across financial, operational, and compliance areas

  • Collaborate with audit team members and stakeholders

  • Ensure timely and accurate audit deliverables

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience in internal audit or public accounting

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Risk assessment

    • Internal controls

    • Audit testing methodologies

  • Experience working with business process evaluations

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background with Big 4 Accounting Firms, Fortune 500, or public companies

  • Professional certifications such as:

    • CPA (Certified Public Accountant)

    • CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)

    • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) or fraud investigation experience

  • Proactive and self-starter mindset

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Dependable and team-oriented

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
