Job Title: VMware Engineer

Location: Chandler, AZ
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Client Industry: Fortune 500 Tech Client
Duration: 12-18 Months Contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM local time

About the role:
 
Technical Infrastructure Core
  • SDDC & Virtualization: Expert-level administration of the VMware vSphere Suite (vCenter, ESXi, vSAN). Specialized in High Availability (HA), DRS, and vMotion optimization.
  • Network Virtualization (SDN): Deep experience with VMware NSX-T/V, including micro-segmentation, distributed firewalling (DFW), and logical routing.
  • Core Networking: Strong grasp of physical networking stacks (TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF, VLAN tagging, LACP) and integration with Cisco ACI or Arista architectures.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in PowerCLI, PowerShell, or Ansible to automate infrastructure provisioning and "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) workflows.
Infrastructure Project Leadership
  • Project Lifecycle Management: End-to-end oversight of large-scale IT migrations, from initial discovery and capacity planning to execution and Day-2 support.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Acting as the technical liaison between C-suite executives, cross-functional engineering teams, and external vendors (Dell/EMC, VMware, Cisco).
  • Risk & Resource Planning: Skilled in identifying technical bottlenecks, managing project budgets, and utilizing Agile/Scrum or Waterfall methodologies to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensuring all network and virtualization projects meet rigorous security standards (SOC2, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS).
Network Project History
  • Data Center Migrations/Consolidations: Leading the physical-to-virtual (P2V) and virtual-to-virtual (V2V) migration of mission-critical workloads across global data centers.
  • SD-WAN & LAN Refreshes: Proven track record of managing enterprise-wide network hardware refreshes and software-defined WAN implementations.
  • Disaster Recovery (DR) Strategy: Architecting and testing robust DR sites using VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and Zerto.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $57 – $60 per hour 
This range reflects base compensation and may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and candidate qualifications.
