Job Title: Build Reliability Engineer (BRE)
Location: Redmond, WA
Duration: 9+ Months- possible extension/conversion
Salary and Other Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $55 .00/hr- $60 .00/hr .
Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
- Review PCBA manufacturing build reports from contract manufacturers to evaluate quality, yield, and reliability.
- Approve or reject builds based on inspection data, reliability results, and manufacturing process performance. Perform failure analysis on defective PCBAs to determine root cause (e.g., solder issues, material defects, assembly errors).
- Analyze manufacturing and reliability data using statistical methods to identify trends and risks. Partner with design and manufacturing engineers to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Design for Reliability (DfR), and Design for Quality (DfQ).
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by validating prototype and early production builds before scaling to full production.
- Work with contract manufacturers and suppliers to resolve production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate production test failures or inspection issues and recommend process improvements to increase yield and reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, materials science, or a related technical discipline Experience with PCBA manufacturing and assembly processes (including soldering and inspection)
- Strong background in materials science and failure analysis methodologies Proficiency in analyzing manufacturing and reliability data, including statistical data analysis
- Knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers to manage build quality
- Ability to interpret and approve/reject build reports and manufacturing qualification results Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with design, manufacturing, and production teams
