Role Overview:
  • We are looking for a Systems Engineer IV/ Senior Data Governance Engineer to join our Group Functions team as an individual contributor.
  • This role focuses on designing and implementing robust data governance frameworks while building and supporting scalable data pipelines in Azure.
  • The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing data quality, metadata management, lineage, and compliance across cloud-based data platforms, while providing operational support to ensure platform stability.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement scalable data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, quality, privacy, and accessibility across cloud platforms.
  • Build, operationalize, and automate data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Azure Databricks, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain metadata management and cataloging solutions using Databricks Unity Catalog and Informatica CDGC to improve data discoverability and transparency.
  • Engineer and enforce data quality controls and monitoring systems while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain end-to-end data lineage for full visibility across the data ecosystem.
  • Enforce data security and privacy controls, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), data masking, and encryption.
  • Conduct performance analysis, optimization, and capacity planning for large-scale data workloads.
  • Collaborate with Data Stewards to define data quality rules, collect business requirements, and support remediation plans.
  • Support production release cycles and provide operational support to maintain platform stability.
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment using tools like Jira, Teams, and Mural.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on data governance.
  • Strong expertise in Azure cloud services, including:
    • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
    • Azure Databricks
    • ADLS Gen2
    • Azure Synapse
    • Azure SQL / SQL Server
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for governance, lineage, and security.
  • Experience with Informatica CDGC for metadata management and lineage.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python; familiarity with PySpark is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, relational data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, and cloud-native data engineering.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for automating data workflows.
  • Familiarity with Power BI for building dashboards and supporting business intelligence use cases.
  • Strong knowledge of data security practices, including RBAC, encryption, and data masking.
  • Experience with automation and scripting using Python or PowerShell.
