Job Description:
Title: Fire Prevention Specialist
Type (Contract): 12 months
Location: Virtual (40% travel)
Pay Range: $60-$65/hr
Remote but should be located in one of the locations:
Primary Cities: Arlington, Austin, Bellevue/Seattle, Boston, Nashville, New York, Toronto, Dallas
Secondary Cities: Houston, LA (Santa Monica), Phoenix
Third priority Cities: Atlanta, Chicago

Day to Day:
- Oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Provide expert technical guidance on Fireand Life Safety (FLS) systems, especially performance-based fire testing, given each building's custom design.
- Lead and mentor a team of FLS engineers, designers, and project managers, assigning tasks, setting performance goals, and conducting evaluations.
- Develop and implement program-wide FLS strategies, processes, and best practices to drive standardization.
- Coordinate extensively with internal and external stakeholders (approximately 15 diverse groups including architects, engineers, contractors, and clients) to ensure smooth project execution and align FLS programs with overall organizational goals.
- Monitor project progress across a portfolio of many projects, directly engaging deeply with about 20 projects annually, adjusting as necessary to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Establish and maintain robust quality control processes for FLS systems, conducting regular site inspections and audits.
- Manage program budgets and monitor project costs, implementing cost-saving measures and preparing financial reports and forecasts for senior management.
Must Haves:
- 10+ years of project management experience from design development through construction administration on complex commercial and industrial (warehouse/fulfillment/manufacturing) projects.
- At least 3 years of recent (last 3 years) owner's representative experience, ideally with a background starting in consulting.
- Expert-level financial management capabilities, including budget development, cost control, and value engineering.
- Advanced technical knowledge in FLS systems, building codes (NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC, IFC), and industry standards, with the ability to deep-dive into state-specific and site-specific codes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in BIM coordination and clash detection on developing projects using tools like Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Autodesk BIM 360.
- Superior communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; capable of effectively managing client relationships, resolving conflicts, and communicating technical design content to non-technical team members and senior leadership.
Plusses:
- Experience managing FLS programs for large-scale industrial warehouse/fulfillment facilities.
- Proven ability to onboard and ramp up quickly in a new role (within 3 months or less).
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends, technological advancements, and sustainable building practices.
- Experience identifying potential risks and developing robust mitigation strategies.
