Job Title: ESG Scope 3 Transformation, Controls, and Assurance Contractor
Reports to: Manager, ESG Mandatory Reporting Governance & Assurance
Overview:
Our Corporate Responsibility & Global Philanthropy organization, encompassing ESG, Foundation & Corporate Philanthropy, Global Patient Access Programs, and Global Patient & Community Partnerships, seeks to advance and sustain a more equitable world to achieve transformational impact for patients, communities, our business, and people.
The ESG Scope 3 Transformation, Controls, and Assurance Contractor will execute preparedness activities to support Client’s compliance with ESG regulations. This includes supporting the enhancement of the completeness, quality, and transparency of Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions data and processes, as well as delivering on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) requirements, such as the integration and verification of human rights policies among suppliers. This role will also work with cross-functional partners to identify near- and longer-term actions on Scope 3 and supplier sustainability, including actions to support achieving Client’s near-term science-based target.
This role requires significant cross-functional collaboration and teamwork, including across EHS, Procurement, Legal, Affiliates and other partners to drive ongoing improvements in the quality and integrity of Scope 3 data, while supporting regulatory compliance and science-based target objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Scope 3 Calculation and Documentation Enhancement:
o Conduct initiatives to strengthen the completeness and quality of Scope 3 calculations in line with GHG Protocol standards.
o Execute and document Scope 3 relevancy assessment which will serve as a foundational reference for both global and Affiliate Scope 3 calculations.
o Pilot initiatives for supplier data collection to obtain actual emissions data.
o Enhance cross-functional engagement (Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain and other stakeholders) to broaden engagement in Scope 3 activities.
o Formalize controls and governance documents to promote completeness, accuracy, and repeatability of Scope 3 calculations.
• CSDDD Preparation:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ESG, Legal, and Procurement, to help develop an Client Human Rights policy and execute on additional actions to ensure suppliers comply with human rights due diligence requirements.
o Partner with ESG, Legal, and Procurement to gain endorsement of Client's Human Rights policy.
• Support a Cross-Functional Team in Advancing Sustainability Data:
o Support a cross-functional group including Procurement, ESG, and others in building an action plan that drives ongoing progress to achieve Client’s 2027 target to increase the percentage of suppliers that will set science-based targets to 79.1% by 2027.
o Collaborate with procurement to enhance methods for collecting data and opportunities to engage suppliers.
o Partner closely with Procurement to obtain endorsement of the action plan developed, collaborate on a Scope 3 and supplier sustainability training, and support training roll-out across internal stakeholders.
Qualifications/Experience:
• 5-7 years of experience in relevant positions (e.g., ESG, Sustainability, Procurement, or other relevant roles).
• Demonstrated experience in GHG accounting (including scope 3 categories) and supplier engagement.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, ability to influence without authority, strong attention to detail, and a proven track record of being able to work under deadlines.
• Must be an individual who works well in a team environment. Must be able to work collaboratively in a cross-functional matrix environment to help deliver results in conjunction with business leaders and other internal stakeholders across the enterprise.
• Passion for and interest in ESG and sustainability is a plus.
