**About the Role**
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider. This role is crucial for the diagnosis of disease and injury, adhering to established protocols and ensuring high-quality imaging.
**Responsibilities**
- Perform high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocols in a timely manner.
- Maintain production and quality standards by following established procedures.
- Utilize AIDET communication to identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exams, and establish rapport with patients and others.
- Instruct and communicate with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed and assess the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
- Prepare patients and the area for procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting equipment controls.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies and protocols.
- Use proper sterile techniques for invasive multimodality procedures and maintain hand hygiene.
- Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness and report issues to management.
- Screen individuals entering the department according to approved policies.
- Obtain, verify, and maintain relevant documentation such as requisitions, patient history, and consent forms.
- Maintain medical imaging records in accordance with department policies and standards.
**Education Qualification**
- Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program.
**Required Skills**
- Ability to perform high-quality MRI procedures in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills to explain procedures and put patients at ease.
- Ability to provide services in compliance with established standards and policies.
- Capability to perform tasks independently without routine oversight.
- Maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress and resolve issues appropriately.
- Proficiency in administering first aid and using emergency equipment.
- Commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing patient feedback.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills for providing care to various age groups, including newborns, pediatrics, young adults, adults, and geriatrics.
- Ability to serve as a preceptor and provide quality training to new team members.
- Willingness to take on-call duties if required.
