Job Title- Sr. Piping Designer

Pay range- $60- $65/hr

We are seeking a Senior Designer with strong piping/pipeline design experience and project management capabilities to support pipeline infrastructure projects. This individual will report to the Design Supervisor of Transmission Pipeline and will play a key role in overseeing multiple projects, ensuring design quality, and driving deliverables on schedule. 

This role requires a balance of hands-on design expertise and project oversight, including reviewing modeling inquiries, supporting design decisions, and ensuring engineering documentation meets company standards. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and project managers to deliver accurate and timely design solutions in a fast-paced environment. 

Work Environment 

• Onsite requirement for the first 2 months 
• Transition to a hybrid schedule (approximately 3 day onsite per week) thereafter 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities 

• Oversee and review transmission pipeline design projects, ensuring timely delivery of 2-week design cycles 

• Serve as a technical lead within AutoCAD Plant 3D, supporting modeling decisions and resolving design inquiries 

• Perform and oversee 3D piping and pipeline modeling, including updates to models, orthographic drawings, and design deliverables 

• Review, revise, and approve iOC drawings, ensuring accuracy and proper integration into DBB systems 

• Manage and maintain pipeline models and design data, including grids, pipeline types, and project archives 

• Handle and integrate KMZ/geospatial files into AutoCAD Civil 3D to support routing and layout 

• Lead model reviews and design reviews, ensuring compliance with company standards and engineering requirements 

• Review and QA design bundles (A, B, C) for completeness, accuracy, and constructability 

• Collaborate closely with designers, team members, and cross-functional teams to align on deliverables 

• Track project progress, deadlines, and deliverables using Excel and internal tools (10-day turnaround cycles) 

• Evaluate and approve design changes, drawing releases, and technical documentation 

• Support field coordination efforts, ensuring designs align with real-world conditions 

• Provide quick-turn guidance on daily model updates and design requests, including rapid turnaround tasks (15–30 minutes) 

Must-Have Qualifications 

• 10–15+ years of experience as a Designer in piping or pipeline design (facility, transmission, or related environments), with experience at a Senior level overseeing design work and coordinating with teams 

• Strong, hands-on experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D (required) 

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, and pipeline/engineering drawings 

• Experience performing model reviews and design reviews, including work with plan and profile drawings 
• Familiarity with  KMZ files, along with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 

Nice to Have 

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, including land base imports, pipe stationing, KMZ integration, and Xref workflows 

• Experience with AVEVA E3D or similar plant design tools 

• Exposure to Power Apps or similar workflow/automation tools 

• Experience supporting or transitioning into project management responsibilities
