Overview: The Director of Corporate Services is a senior leader responsible for ensuring the company’s internal business functions operate with discipline, alignment, and accountability. This role serves as the connective layer across Security, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, IT, and Property Management—ensuring these functions not only run, but run well together. It is a business executive position requiring sound judgment, ownership, and the ability to make high-quality decisions in dynamic, ambiguous environments. The individual in this role acts as a trusted operator, executing leadership intent, maintaining standards, and ensuring the business functions effectively at all levels.
Mission: To ensure the company’s core operational functions are aligned, compliant, and executed with consistency, while proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and enabling sustainable growth.
This role quietly determines whether organizational standards translate into real-world execution.
Must Have:
- 10+ years of experience in business operations, corporate services, or similar leadership roles
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple operational domains
- Demonstrated executive-level decision-making and organizational oversight
- Strong understanding of HR functions and corporate organizational structures
- Experience reviewing contracts, legal documents, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to operate at the executive level
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
Plusses:
- Experience in government contracting or defense environments
- Familiarity with DCSA, DCMA, CMMC, or similar compliance frameworks
- Background in security (physical, personnel, cyber, or information security governance)
- Experience supporting or leading HR functions
- Active or previous security clearance (or ability to obtain one)
Responsibilities & Day-to-Day
Leadership & Integration
- Provide executive oversight across Security (physical, personnel, cyber, IT), Human Resources, Quality Assurance, and Property Management
- Ensure alignment and coordination across departments with differing priorities, personalities, and workflows
- Act as the central escalation point for operational issues, resolving challenges before they impact the business
- Maintain a “work drives process” environment—prioritizing outcomes over rigid adherence to process when appropriate
Decision-Making & Ownership
- Make sound, timely decisions in ambiguous situations where guidance may be incomplete
- Exercise strong judgment under pressure, balancing urgency, risk, and long-term impact
- Take full ownership of outcomes, including addressing gaps when things fall through the cracks
- Operate with a business-owner mindset—treating company resources, contracts, and decisions with care and accountability
Process, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and frameworks (e.g., DCSA, DCMA, cybersecurity standards)
- Oversee corporate policies, procedures, and annual reviews, maintaining accountability for their effectiveness
- Lead and support compliance audits, insurance programs, and regulatory documentation
- Maintain working knowledge across all functional areas to assess risk and enforce standards
People Leadership & Accountability
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team (~12 employees), including department leads
- Balance support and accountability—developing people while maintaining high performance standards
- Address underperformance, guide career development, and ensure teams execute effectively
- Navigate complex interpersonal dynamics across departments with professionalism and clarity
Business Operations & Vendor Management
- Oversee corporate assets, facilities, and vendor relationships, including leases, service agreements, and contracts
- Maintain proactive visibility into key timelines (e.g., contract renewals, compliance deadlines) to avoid reactive decision-making
- Review and assess legal agreements and operational commitments with a business-oriented lens
- Ensure the organization is equipped with the resources and infrastructure needed to operate effectively
Strategic & Executive Engagement
- Participate in executive leadership discussions, identifying risks and recommending solutions
- Support Senior Management Official (SMO) meetings related to security and compliance
- Conduct financial and operational reviews, including budget oversight for Corporate Services
- Contribute to scaling the organization into additional government and classified programs
