Overview
 
Client is building a new Big Data team and is seeking a senior-level Lead Data Engineer to play a key technical leadership role. This is a hands-on, individual contributor position (no people management) that requires deep expertise in Python and SQL, strong data engineering fundamentals, and the ability to lead technically across projects and design efforts.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting enterprise analytics use cases.
  • Develop and optimize SQL- and Python-based data solutions with a strong focus on performance and reliability.
  • Lead technical discussions, architecture decisions, and provide guidance to other engineers.
  • Ensure high data quality, integrity, and consistency across platforms.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support data platform architecture and contribute to long-term data strategy.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical workshops, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of overall professional experience, with strong tenure and stability.
  • Heavy, hands-on experience with Python (must be advanced; Python skills will be formally assessed).
  • Deep SQL expertise (T-SQL or PL/SQL acceptable).
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and data architectures.
  • Prior experience in a technical lead role (running meetings, providing technical direction).
  • Willingness and ability to work fully onsite, 5 days a week.
Nice-to-Have / Plus Skills
  • Exposure to AWS and/or Snowflake.
  • Experience with data modeling, performance tuning, and enterprise-scale data systems.
  • Industry experience in midstream, energy, supply chain, or industrial environments.
