Job Title: Terminal Operator / Intermodal Equipment Operator
Job Type: Full-Time (Direct Hire)
Pay Rate: $18.00 – $20.55 per hour
Schedule: 2nd & 3rd Shift (Overtime Available)
Location: Columbus, OH
About the Role
- Operate heavy equipment in an intermodal yard to support container movement and logistics operations
- Play a key role in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient handling of shipping containers
- Work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment with consistent hours and overtime opportunities
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment to load/unload containers from railcars and trucks
- Drive hostlers to move containers and chassis throughout the yard
- Use equipment such as top loaders, side loaders, and cranes for stacking and transport
- Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure safety and functionality
- Coordinate with team members and supervisors to execute daily yard operations
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment or machinery preferred
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and railcars as needed
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and physical exam
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in intermodal, rail yard, or logistics operations
- Familiarity with hostlers, cranes, or container handling equipment
- CDL or equipment certifications (a plus, not required)
Schedule & Work Environment
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM
- 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM
- Schedule determined by seniority
- Must be flexible for nights, weekends, and overtime
