Job Title: Support Engineer II / Drone Operator

Job Location: Phoenix, AZ 85043 (Onsite - +2 weeks of travelling to Seattle at the start)
Job Duration: 5 Months Contract with Possibility of Extension
Pay Rate: $36.00/hr to $40.00/hr

SIM Evaluation: Drone simulation test using remote controller and company-provided laptop.
Local candidates will complete the interview in person at the office.Remote candidates will be shipped a SIM evaluation kit.
30 minute to 1 hour behavioral video call with the hiring manager.

Job Description:

Drone Operator Role

This position is looking for a skilled Part 107 certified operator with strong experience flying drones using remote controls.

The selected candidate will work as an Operations Specialist supporting the development and testing of advanced safety technologies. The role also includes mission planning, basic maintenance, readiness checks, and logistics coordination.

The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, flexibility, and enthusiasm for new technology. This person will join an R&D team focused on creating innovative future delivery experiences.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Remote control drone piloting
  • Data collection
  • Night shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Drive daily to offsite work locations (company vehicle provided)
  • Work variable shifts, including weekends when required
  • Schedule changes based on daylight/weather conditions
  • Overtime may be required based on assignments
  • Mission planning and light maintenance duties

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • 2+ years of commercial drone piloting experience (larger drones preferred)
  • Strong pre-flight planning skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when needed
  • Ability to stand/walk 8–10 hours with breaks
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching
  • Experience in commercial UAS industry
  • Aviation safety experience as Safety Officer or similar role
  • Experience beyond DJI drones (RC airplanes also acceptable)
  • Must be able to fly in manual mode (without GPS assistance)
  • Minimum 50+ logged professional drone flight hours

Travel & Accommodation Details:

Candidates must travel to Washington (Seattle area) for approximately 2 weeks of initial training.

For non-local candidates, covered by company:

  • Round-trip flight tickets
  • Rental car
  • Hotel stay
  • Daily food allowance of $75/day

For Washington local candidates:

  • Complete same 2-week training locally
  • Return flight to Phoenix covered by company

Candidates are responsible for arranging their own accommodation in Phoenix for the remaining contract period.
