Job Title: Credit & Collection Manager
San Diego - Onsite
Fulltime

Position Summary:
Responsible for the overall management of the Collection Department which includes, developing operational goals of department, staffing, training, developing and motivating staff. Assess current procedures used to set credit ratings for customers and manage accounts to ensure maximum benefit from collection activities. Maintain and evaluate procedures for the credit & collection department including conducting credit investigations and collecting on delinquent accounts according to industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff of full-time regular employees and temporary workers on assignment. Evaluate training and resources needed to maintain an acceptable turnover of Accounts Receivable.
  • Analyze collection effort costs to optimize staffing levels versus cost of capital.
    Create and analyze collection reports to ascertain status of collection and balance outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
  • Meets regularly with the VP Finance to review activities and receive direction as necessary.
  • Report to upper Management on a daily basis all monies collected, number of outstanding bills and dollar amounts. Prepare monthly operating review for upper Management.
  • Employ credit ratings/limits for all customers and utilize methodologies to monitor risky accounts.
  • Interface with all divisions necessary to resolve customer issue/concerns to ensure expeditious payment.
  • Review and approve adjustments to accounts.
  • Audit delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible; ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad credit status to account.
  • Review all accounts prior to sending to outside collections. Prepare accounts to be sent to the various outside agencies. Maintain database of customers sent to outside agencies. Post payments and reinstate customers once they are fully paid.
  • Review accounts recommended by outside agencies for legal action. Determine feasibility of recovery and collect all back up requested. Sign affidavits and fill out discovery questionnaires as necessary and organize witnesses as required.
  • Perform follow-up with customers and staff as required.
  • Monitor the percentages of aged accounts.
  • Perform necessary report review and audits to ensure Sarbanes/Oxley compliance
  • Uses sound judgment to modify procedures to meet the department and business needs.
  • Review with the VP Finance prior to the implementation of any significant decisions that are outside normal operating procedures which could seriously impact the business goals.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance preferred or equivalent background and experience
  • Years of Experience:
    Minimum ten years credit and collections experience at the management level.

Other Requirements:

  • Complete knowledge and understanding of A/R system functions.
  • Skilled communicator verbal and written.
  • Excellent Analytical skills with ability to reconcile accounts, problem identification, evaluation, and resolution.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and Access
  • Excellent communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • D365 Finance and Operations experience preferred
