Duration: 12 - 18 Months Contract (Possibility of FTE conversion)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM EST

About the Role

We are hiring a z/OS Engineer to join our client on a contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the most innovative banking companies in the U.S. You’ll help drive business outcomes, tech goals, transformation, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• A seasoned professional in this role spends their day balancing deep technical maintenance with high-level architectural strategy.
• A typical morning might involve managing the SMP/E environment to apply critical patches or utilizing Link to coordinate with vendors on system updates, ensuring the z16 hardware remains optimized and stable.
• Throughout the afternoon, the focus shifts toward modernization and efficiency, where they might design automated playbooks to replace manual system builds or translate new business requirements into technical blueprints for the z/OS platform.

What We’re Looking For

• z/OS Installation & Maintenance: Expert-level experience installing and maintaining z/OS operating systems on Mainframe environments.
• z16 Hardware: Hands-on experience with z16 hardware architecture and its specific operational requirements.
• SMP/E Proficiency: Deep expertise in using System Modification Program/Extended (SMP/E) for software installation, maintenance, and inventory management.
• Hardware Management Console (HMC): Highly desirable experience managing mainframe hardware through the HMC.
• Vendor Management Tools: Proficiency using Link and other vendor-specific tools for technical support and software acquisition.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $65 – $70 per hour
This range reflects base compensation and may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and candidate qualifications.
