Detailed Job Description:
Title: Revenue Accountant
Duration: 09 Months (Potential Extension/Conversion)
- This position is responsible for supporting digital and DTC business units in revenue recognition accounting, contract analysis, and order processing functions.
- The Senior Revenue Accountant plays a pivotal role within the accounting team, overseeing the monthly close process, reconciling revenue accounts, and streamlining workflows.
- The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical abilities, sharp critical thinking, and a high degree of motivation. This person is expected to be an analytical professional who excels in dynamic and fast-moving settings.
- Month-end close activities for revenue recognition, including but not limited to journal entries, revenue analysis, unbilled receivables, and credit card reconciliations, and deferred revenue roll forwards
- Calculate subscription revenue waterfall for revenue amortization and monthly revenue recognition journals
- Prepare and consolidate data for completion of disclosure and reporting schedules
- Coordinate daily incoming payments with OTC for cash management entries and calculate credit card fees, cash in transit, and tax accruals
- Work closely with the Corporate indirect tax team and external tax partners for sales tax filings and ensure sales tax compliance
- Provide ongoing guidance to the Sales team and business operations on revenue recognition issues, such as identifying and addressing the cause of any adverse revenue recognition impacts
- Collaborate with external auditors and assist with quarterly SOX audits and internal audits requests
- Key Projects:
- Participate in testing and implementation of financial system migration projects for all streaming business units in (domestic and international)
- Execute workflow automation initiatives, work closely with managers and engineering teams for process improvements
- Participate in ad-hoc revenue analysis and accounting projects as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Oracle or major ERP experience
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (vLookup, pivot tables, etc.)
- Ability to organize and prioritize duties
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Advertising media industry experience is a plus
- Industry experience in the streaming services industry is a plus
- Operative One, Salesforce, and/or Recurly experience a plus
- Payment gateway and banking system experience is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Accuracy and high attention to detail
- Experience with foreign currency transactions a plus
