Position Details:

Title – Data Security Engineer

Location- Toronto Hybrid 1-2x per week (Tuesdays, every 1st Friday)

Project Scope/Why is this role open:

• They will focus on developing the Data Discovery and Remediation service, which is provided to the Business. To accomplish this, they plan to purchase a vendor product that operates on AWS as a SaaS tool. This resource will collaborate with the vendor to establish the SaaS platform.
• They will work alongside cloud engineers who use Azure to set up several Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) + Virtual Servers (VS).
• The primary function of this service is to operate a scanning tool running on these Virtual Machines (VMs).

What will they accomplish on a high level:

• They will provide a service to the business by managing the data stored within the database. This involves identifying and addressing excessive data, ensuring protection and proper handling of where and how the data is stored and served.
• Migrate applications in the service.
• Not limited to just data protection; they'll be building a new Data discovery and Remediation (DDAR) application to enhance the protection process.  
• The application will be designed to locate personal names within the data and report them, allowing for more effective data protection measures.
• 15% data security, 85% data engineering

Day to Day:

• Working with the data sources on different applications
• Meeting to ensure they are following Agile standard, requirements are being met, etc.
• Daily standup, meeting sessions with vendors every other day
• Report to scrum master and deliver corresponding deliverables.

Must Haves:

• 3-5 years of experience
• 3-5 years of Linux OS, Python (scripting), Java, SQL/NoSQL
• Using Virtual Machine for OS (Linux in this case)
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking
• Azure network security gateway, network peering, etc.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes
• Understanding of how containers are built and configured.
• VM Configuration
• Need to know how to configure the VM to connect to the vendor product and set up the SSO authentication. This will make sure the VM is set up properly within Azure (in order to connect to remote and all internal data sources)
• Big data, unstructured/structured data, databricks, PostgreSQL, etc. – Need to understand how this space works
