Job Title – Direct Payment Teller 

Location – Flint, MI – 48506 

Duration – 12 Months (Possible Extension / Conversion) 

 

About the Role: 

  • We are looking for a Payment Processing Teller to handle basic customer interactions, payment processing, accurate balancing of company funds and records, and overall credit and collections tasks. 
  • The role involves processing monthly bill payments, answering customer account questions, and providing excellent customer service in an office setting. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Process 7,000 monthly bill payments by accepting cash, check, or money orders 
  • Answer general customer account questions 
  • Complete identity verification for new utility service customers 
  • Provide excellent customer service 
  • Work independently in an office setting 
  • Maintain organizational standards within the assigned office 
  • Control losses by following policies and procedures 
  • Process payments accurately without errors 
  • Perform to accuracy standards without exceptions 

Education Qualification: 

  • A high school diploma or GED is required. College education is preferred.

Required Skills: 

  • Cash handling experience 
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute and perform standard office tasks 
  • Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service 
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills 
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism with a challenging customer base 
  • Ability to accept and follow direction and departmental policies and procedures 
  • Experience with applications including Cash Desk 
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and credit check (as required for cash handling positions)

  • Retail sales experience
