Job Title: BI Platform Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL 60606 (Hybrid Role 2 or 3 Onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract Role
 
Pay Range: $60/hr to $70/hr
 
Job Description:
As a BI & Analytics Support Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our organization's Business intelligence (BI) applications and platforms. You will provide technical support, coordinate system upgrades and patching, assist with user provisioning, and facilitate the onboarding of new applications. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams, handling incident and request tickets, and ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • As a BI Platform engineer troubleshoot user access, generate monthly metrics for data analytics applications, and develop audit dashboards for auditing applications and report usage. Handle daily user provisioning requests and troubleshoot access issues for BI applications.
  • Server Maintenance and Health Checks: Perform monthly server patching and regular health checks for Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Thoughtspot and Alteryx servers. Coordinate change tickets and approvals for production changes and deployments on a weekly/monthly basis. Handle daily incidents and request tickets for BI tools, ensuring timely resolution and documentation in ServiceNow. Support onboarding of new applications for access to BI tools and provide daily support for application issues. Communicate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to stakeholders and provide timely notifications.

  • Should be proficient with AWS services like EC2, Route53, ALB and security groups.
  • Expertise in Upgrading BI Applications like Tableau, Cognos, and Alteryx as part of platform modernization.
  • Document best practices.
  • Meets with business analysts and customers to define requirements.
  • Prioritizes tasks within project team members and provides effort estimates.
  • Develop automation scripts for monitoring and cleanup activities
  • Ability to Install Drivers
  • Knowledge of SSO, SAML, SSL, IIS, Azure AD, Groups, and Roles
  • Experience with JIRA and Service now.
  • Excellent Communication.
  • Independently working with vendors for troubleshooting issues.
 
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years of experience within the field of business intelligence, and analytics.
  • 4+ years of experience with data architecture, management, maintenance, and implementing best practices and industry standards.
  • Experience with data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, or similar.
  • Proficiency in using data catalog tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, or similar platforms.
  • Experience in customizing and configuring data catalog tools to meet specific business requirements.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data governance practices, and data integration techniques.
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts, metadata management, and data lineage tracking.
  • Design, develop, and maintain BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using BI tools and software.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native data services, storage solutions, and analytics tools
  • Administer and maintain the company’s IT systems, including servers, networks, and databases.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver comprehensive BI solutions.
  • Experience with DataBase technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, Mongo, Redis).
  • Implement and oversee system updates, backups, and security measures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system and network issues, providing technical support as needed.
  • Ensure system compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Document system configurations and procedures, and maintain an inventory of IT assets.
  • Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of data.
  • A high degree of knowledge in PaaS and SaaS application performance.
  • Understand enterprise-level application architecture diagrams and IT security requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate with offshore resources
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience and comfort in solving problems in an ambiguous environment where there is constant change

  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and report simultaneously across different stakeholders

  • Experience planning and executing on-premises to AWS migrations
  • BA or BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Strong verbal and oral communication.
  • Experience working with data management, data governance, or metadata management initiatives within an organization.
  • Experience working with APIs, integration tools, and automation frameworks for data management tasks
  • Understanding of data governance principles, data classification frameworks, and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
  • Advanced CS degree.
