Position Details:                                                             

Position: Capacity planner/Capacity Manager  

Location: Jersey City, NJ or Plano, TX or Charlotte, NC or Jacksonville, FL or Chicago, IL   

Duration: 12-18 Months (Possibility of Full-Time Conversion)                            

Must Haves:  

• Capacity management/Capacity planner/Capacity analyst experience – analyzing data for applications, benchmarking, forecasting of mid-range systems and architecture   

• Should have minimum total of 6 years of experience, can be in combination with other relevant infrastructure roles   

• Experience with BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization (TSCO) tool   

• Understanding of distributed systems architecture   

• Business analytics/data analytics/business intelligence background  

• Tableau or PowerBI for data analysis/data modeling   

• Experience working in a large enterprise organization   

• Excel proficiency for data modeling and forecasting   

Day to Day:     

• This resource will often take a consultative role by gathering data, benchmarking it and creating a utilization forecast, providing any capacity-related recommendations (capacity upgrades, increases, etc.)  

• Most of time will be spent generating deliverables – interacting with app managers, app execs, engineering team, architecture team, problem management team, app/prod support  

• Involved in the design phase of application, providing input from a design/sizing perspective  

• Review technical project documentation to identify performance and capacity impacts to the infrastructure. Projects identified with impact will be engaged, and the candidate will support and consult the project(s) in question.  

• Work with other support teams to collectively provide forecasts and models for performance and capacity of impacted components.   

• Once performance testing is underway, the candidate will review saturation test results and artifacts (e.g., AppDynamics, DynaTrace, Splunk, SAR/vmstat, application logs and Performance Center results) to measure and interpret capacity thresholds/limits.  

• Candidates will also be required to support capacity related BAU activities associated to audit requirement.
