Role Overview:

The PDF Developer will be responsible for designing and implementing a dynamic PDF generation engine, simplifying document and template structures, and generating responsive PDFs that support DocuSign’s responsive signing experience. The role also involves participating in vendor evaluations and Proof of Concept (POC) processes for PDF generation solutions, ensuring high-performance and scalable document processing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a robust PDF generation engine to dynamically create PDFs from over 2,500 document fragments, ensuring efficient document workflows.
  • Simplify complex document and template structures for streamlined processing and future scalability.
  • Generate responsive PDFs that enable seamless integration with DocuSign's responsive signing experience, ensuring compatibility across devices.
  • Collaborate with backend teams to integrate the PDF generation system with the GraphQL API for dynamic data binding and real-time document creation.
  • Optimize PDF generation performance for large-scale document processing, focusing on load handling and scalability.
  • Participate in PDF generation vendor evaluations and Proof of Concept (POC) processes to select the best solution for OMF’s needs.
  • Work closely with QA engineers to ensure reliability and functionality of the PDF generation system.
  • Maintain template libraries and document fragments, ensuring easy customization and modification for future products.
  • Implement security measures to ensure compliance with data protection policies during PDF generation.

 

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with PDF Generation: 3+ years of experience in developing PDF generation systems, including creating complex, rule-driven document templates.
  • Document and Template Simplification: Proven ability to simplify complex documents and templates for efficiency and scalability, reducing development and processing time.
  • Responsive PDF Generation: Experience in generating responsive PDFs that adapt to different screen sizes, specifically enabling DocuSign’s responsive signing experience.
  • API Integration: Strong experience integrating PDF generation systems with backend APIs, particularly GraphQL for real-time data binding.
  • Performance Optimization: Expertise in optimizing PDF generation workflows to handle high-volume document creation, focusing on speed and scalability.
  • Template Management: Experience managing large template libraries, creating reusable document fragments, and maintaining template consistency.
  • Vendor Evaluations and POCs: Experience participating in PDF generation vendor evaluations and conducting Proof of Concepts (POCs) to select the right vendor.
  • Security and Compliance: Knowledge of implementing security protocols during document generation to ensure data privacy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Testing and Automation: Experience working with QA engineers to implement functionality testing, automation, and load testing for PDF generation systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with DocuSign’s responsive signing technology and best practices for ensuring document compatibility across multiple devices.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript or similar languages to support backend integration with APIs.
  • Understanding of cloud-based PDF generation and storage systems for scalability and high availability.
