Senior Python Developer

Position Type: 12-month Contract (Potential Extensions)
Location: Hybrid in Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; or Washington, DC)
Pay Range: $80–$88/hour

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Developer to join our team. This role focuses on integrating Python code with Splunk APIs and cloud-based security tools within an enterprise environment. The successful candidate will work closely with security teams to design, build, and maintain Python solutions on Linux servers, ensuring seamless integration between frameworks, security tools, and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and deploy Python-based solutions for integrating security tools, APIs, and cloud services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and document requirements.
  • Maintain and optimize Python code running on Linux servers.
  • Design, develop, and modify application interfaces and architecture components to support client requirements.
  • Build web interfaces and tools for security teams using Python and modern frontend technologies.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing integrations and applications.
  • Work in an Agile development environment and participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for developed code and provide user support as needed.

Must-Haves:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Python Developer.
  • Expertise in integrating APIs (experience with Splunk APIs is highly desirable).
  • Proficiency with Python frameworks such as Django or Flask.
  • Familiarity with Linux (Red Hat or similar) and server environments.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS preferred).
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity workflows and solutions.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and advanced SQL skills, including query optimization.
  • Knowledge of modern frontend development (e.g., Angular, ES6, HTML5, CSS3).
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Conceptual understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and SOLID design principles.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with automated deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of CDN security products and event-based integration services.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum.
