Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Duration: 06 months (possibility of extension based on performance)
Pay Range: $68- 75/hour without benefits.
Job Description:
- A successful candidate will be the Designer Discipline Technical Lead (DTL) for our Cabin Integration (CI) team. They will be the Focal designer for assigned projects and participate as a team member within an Integrated Project Team (IPT).
- The individual will be responsible for the execution of the *Scope of Work* (SOW) and lead a team of designers.
- They will assign and track tasks according to the SOW within the team and review drawings in Teamcenter as a design supervisor.
- The individual will be also responsible to ensure all tasks are delivered on time and on budget.
- As required the candidate will also work as a senior designer to support projects assigned to different DTLs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Understand the full SOW and subdivide tasks among the identified designer team.
- Provide design support and directions and track team’s assignments.
- Verify all requirements associated to the project are met.
- Verify all requirements associated to export control are met.
- Ensure schedule and budget are met, identify risks and propose risk mitigation plans.
- Review and approve models, drawings and documents as Design Supervisor.
- Conducting and supporting internal design reviews.
- Conducting design supervisor reviews of models, drawings and documents.
- Support different projects assigned to different DTLs as a senior designer.
- Supporting manufacturing, operations, and testing as needed.
- Coordinating with the IPT as design DTL and all disciplines within the team such as electrical engineers, stress engineers, flammability engineering, purchasing, operations and program management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong ability and proven track record of multitasking by owning several projects and running them simultaneously.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with individuals whose first language is not English.
- Must be able to research and investigate design solutions and work independently.
- Must have relevant 3D solid modeling and drafting experience.
- The ability to interpret 2D drawings including the understanding of GD&T and perform tolerance stack-ups. Understanding of Y14.100.
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate across multiple sites and departments
- Strong MS Office skills including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- NX CAD experience (formally Unigraphics).
- Teamcenter experience.
- Design experience with aircraft interior part types, including sheet metal, machining, injection molding, vacuum forming and 3D printing.
- Strong understanding of part production and assembly installation.
- Strong understanding of integration design and aviation regulatory.
- Ability to create and/or coordinate simple mockups to perform proof of concept.
- Ability to communicate with production employees to understand their concerns.
- Ability to interact with high levels of internal and external management.
- Strong engineering skills including mechanisms and how stresses flow through a particular design.
