About the Role:

  • We are seeking a Patient Access Representative to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for obtaining current and accurate demographics and insurance information, registering patients, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting patient financial responsibilities.
  • This role also involves providing training and mentoring to peers.

Pay Range: $20 - $21

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing.
  • Perform cashiering responsibilities according to company policies when appropriate.
  • Register patients in multiple locations and understand patient flow processes in each area.
  • Verify patient eligibility for insurance coverage and determine patient liability.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with patients when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and family members during traumatic events, demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.
  • Interact with all areas to provide appropriate information related to patient delays and schedule changes.
  • Adhere to compliance with order validation, cash policy requirements, government payor requirements, and patient safety requirements.
  • Manage multiple priorities in an organized manner and escalate service issues to management when necessary.
  • Perform reviews and take action regarding departmental and individual reports as assigned.

  • Certification/Degree Requirements: N/A

Required Skills: -

  • Customer service experience required.
  • Typing experience (30wpm+).
  • Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.
  • High level of empathy and ability to communicate effectively with patients and family members.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in a highly stressful and emotional environment.  Knowledge of revenue cycle functions and patient access processes.
