Pay Range: $34-$39/hr.
Industry: Biopharmaceutical/Medical Devices 

Description: 

  • The scientist will be responsible for acquiring and processing data for materials assessments, supporting other scientists and medical device project teams with development and operational support activities through Science and Technology.  
  • The candidate will have experience in materials assessment technologies such as thermal analysis, microscopy, metallurgy, and failure analysis.  
  • Additionally, the candidate will have experience in a dynamic team environment and have strong interpersonal skills.  
  • Knowledge of medical devices is preferred.  
  • The candidate will have experience of documenting experiments in a highly regulated environment and knowledge of technical concepts and principles underlying Materials Science techniques. 
  • The candidate will have knowledge and technical experience in materials assessment techniques. 
  • The candidate should be able to work independently and with staff/principal scientists and engineers to support project teams to meet their objectives. 
  • The candidate will have experience in the following: 
  • Surface analysis: Microscopy, SEM/EDS, FIB, Laser confocal microscopy, Vibrational spectroscopy, FTIR, Raman 
  • Thermal Analysis: DSC, TGA, TMA, Rheological techniques 

Qualification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Polymer Science or related degree; or equivalent work experience with 2-5 or more years of experience and/or post-secondary education in Materials Science and Engineering.
