Job Title: Optical Network Engineer
Location: Arlington, VA OR Seattle, WA
Duration: 6 Months (Possible extension or conversion)
Pay Range: $60-$64/hr.

About the Role:

• This role involves operating and maintaining networking systems, focusing on DWDM and IP networking.
• It requires collaboration with various teams to ensure seamless project implementation and continuous learning to stay updated with industry trends.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain networking systems, supporting customer traffic and resolving data center issues.
• Develop high-level and low-level designs for DWDM networks and document technical requirements.
• Collaborate with ground teams and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project implementation.
• Continuously learn about new network products, solutions, and technologies, staying updated on industry trends.
• Attend weekly meetings to discuss project progress and provide updates on ongoing projects and recommendations.

Required Skill:

• In-depth understanding of DWDM transport networks and their integration with IP router layers.

• Strong knowledge of router and switch connectivity within large-scale networks.

• Minimum of 7 years in designing, planning, and implementing DWDM optical networks.

• Experience in large-scale production networking environments, handling site outages, validations, and installations.

• Basic Python scripting skills for reading and adjusting code.

• Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks used in network operations.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
