When I talk to new associates, I often hear the same fear: “What if I don’t know what I’m doing yet?” My response is always the same. You don’t have to know everything. You just have to show up every day with the right mindset.

That’s where “pace and burst” comes in. It’s a rhythm. A mindset. A way to lead yourself through this role with clarity, focus, and fire.

Pace means you show up with consistency. You do the little things right. You block your time, make your calls, and stay intentional. It’s not about being the loudest or the fastest. It’s about being locked in every single day and doing the work that sets up greatness.

Then comes burst. That’s when a big opportunity lands. A hot req, a client who wants to scale, a candidate who delivers. And because you’ve kept the pace, you’re ready. You strike, push harder, and make the most of the moment.

This is also where vision comes into play. Because the hardest part of this job isn’t the fast pace. It’s staying committed to your goals before they materialize. It’s believing in the process when no one’s watching. Vision is a muscle. You build it with discipline and trust.

When I joined the Dallas office, the talent was already there. The hunger was there. But we needed a shared rhythm, a shared belief. So we locked in together. We stayed late. We invested in each other. We created a new mindset built on care, commitment, and conviction. And that changed everything.

If you’re early in your career and trying to find your footing, my advice is simple:

  • Train your pace. Make excellence your habit.
  • Trust your burst. Be ready when the big moment hits.
  • Build your vision. Even before the results show up.

You don’t need to have all the answers. What you need is purpose, presence, and a belief in where you’re headed.

That’s how transformation starts. That’s how leaders are made. And that’s how offices like Dallas achieve collective success.

We’re not here to play small. We’re here to build something that lasts. One conversation, one connection, one burst at a time.
